Washa means ‘bring to light’ in Swahili. Our mission is to serve as a light that celebrates and protects black women.
Our candles are inspired by Kenya and her unbowed women. We’ve made a commitment to amplify their voices and advocate for gender equality.
Celebrate & Protect Black Women
We achieve our mission by living our core values and empowering our global community. We also donate 2% of candle sales towards causes and non-profit organizations that protect black women by mitigating the impact of oppressive cultural, economic, and social practices that undermine women’s dignity and limit their agency.
We’ve partnered with and promote the efforts of causes that empower and protect women in Kenya including Nyanam International.
We celebrate women who’ve championed female empowerment and intentionally give their voices life and light with each candle we sell.
